Sigmaringen to Riedlingen

Before leaving Sigmaringen, I took advantage of my hotel's large breakfast buffet. While enjoying the buffet, which included smoked salmon, I noticed an older couple two tables down speaking English. As there are many English speaking tourists, I did not want to bother them.

The day was cloudy and a bit cooler but without rain. I left Sigmaringen and rode along the trail toward the town of Riedlingen. On the way, I rode along the river and through the town of Mengen. Leaving Mengen, I missed the turn-off for the radweg and continued to the town of Blochingen before realizing my mistake. After turning around, I found the trail and continued to Riedlingen. I stopped at a picnic table across the river from town of Binzwangen for a short rest before continuing to Reidlingen.

Once arriving at Riedlingen, I rode across the river and into the old town center. I needed to use Google Maps to find my hotel, the Hotel Gudrun. The hotel was a bit hard to find as it was located behind a restaurant and some other buildings. Since I arrived before check-in time, I had to wait for the hotel owners to arrive. The owners were a nice couple who had built the hotel.

While waiting outside the hotel, the same couple I saw at breakfast showed up on their tandem bike. The couple, Greg and Michele, were a few years older than me and were riding the Donauradweg as part of a several month European adventure. They had travelled to Russia, Mongolia, and China on previous adventures and had lived on a sail-boat for 15 years, sailing all over the world. We had dinner together at the Rosengarten German Restaurant that was in front of the hotel. I had Schwäbischen Lendentopf, pork pieces in a mushroom cream sauce with Spätzle.
